The President Bola Tinubu-led Federal Government recently unveiled a proposed budget of N26 trillion to be submitted to the National Assembly before December 31, 2023.

While awaiting the presentation of the 2024 Budget, the Green Chamber has made it clear that they won’t delay its passage.
The lawmakers have also pledged to exercise their oversight jurisdiction over relevant government agencies to monitor the budget’s implementation.
III. Ensuring Compliance with the Financial Year Act
Chairman of the Committee, Abubakar Bichi, emphasized the importance of maintaining the precedent of ensuring compliance with the Financial Year Act.
This involves passing the budget on or before December 31 of each financial year.
Swift passage will make budget implementation from January to December operational and achievable.

The Appropriations Committee stands as one of the most prominent Committees involved in appropriations of government funds, giving it a wide jurisdiction.
