…By Dorcas Funmi for TDPel Media. Rumors have been circulating that popular TV host, Rufai Oseni, was offered a political appointment by President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
Oseni, who was known to be critical of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu prior to the presidential election, has now addressed these speculations.
After winning the presidential election against candidates such as Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP), Rabiu Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), and others, Tinubu assumed office on May 29, 2023.
Since then, he has appointed Femi Gbajabiamila, the former Speaker of the House of Representatives, as his Chief of Staff (CoS), and George Akume, a former Governor of Benue State, as the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF).
However, the President has yet to appoint a spokesperson and other members of his cabinet.
According to a bill signed by former President Muhammadu Buhari, Tinubu is expected to form his cabinet within sixty days of his inauguration.
In response to the reports of being offered a position in Tinubu’s administration, Rufai Oseni has dismissed them as fake news.
Taking to his Twitter account on Monday, the popular journalist stated, “Fake news: I was not offered any position in this administration.
I am content working on TV and Radio.
Thanks.”
With this statement, Oseni clarifies that he has not been approached for any role in the current administration and expresses his satisfaction with his current work in television and radio.
