Reflecting reg Etafia, the goalkeeper coach for TS Galaxy, recently shared his reflections on working with two standout players, Melusi Buthelezi and Fiacre Ntwari, before their moves to Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs, respectively.
Since joining TS Galaxy as the goalkeeper coach during the 2020/21 DStv Premiership season, Etafia has played a pivotal role in nurturing the club’s goalkeeping talent.
His tenure at The Rockets began with Melusi Buthelezi, who was then the team’s fourth-choice goalkeeper.
Under Etafia’s guidance and Buthelezi’s hard work, the goalkeeper rose through the ranks to become the team’s undisputed number one.
Buthelezi’s remarkable progress didn’t go unnoticed; his exceptional performances earned him a spot with Bafana Bafana.
Recognizing his potential, Orlando Pirates secured his services for the 2023/24 season.
Nurturing New Talent
Etafia’s success continued as he began working with another emerging talent, Rwandan international Fiacre Ntwari.
After just one season with Etafia, Ntwari’s skills attracted the attention of Kaizer Chiefs, who signed him for the 2024/25 campaign.
Etafia spoke about his experience with both players and the impact they had on his coaching career. “I’m grateful for the chance to be part of the TS Galaxy family,” he said.
“It’s been a rewarding journey. Melusi went from being the fourth-choice goalkeeper to a key player, and Fiacre, who was new in his first season, has now moved on to a top club.”
Acknowledgments and Gratitude
He continued, “I’m thankful for the opportunity TS Galaxy provided me and especially for the efforts of the goalkeepers. They worked incredibly hard, and their progress is a testament to their dedication.
I must also acknowledge Sead Ramovic, our head coach, who has been a tremendous mentor both professionally and personally.
His guidance has been invaluable.”
For Etafia, the journey with TS Galaxy has been a blend of personal growth and professional achievement, underscoring the power of dedication and teamwork in the world of football.
