What was meant to be a fun-filled Fourth of July block party in Detroit turned tragic early Sunday morning.
The gathering took place around Reno Street and Rossini Drive, but the celebrations were cut short when gunfire erupted around 2:25 a.m.
Two people lost their lives in the shooting.
A 20-year-old woman was fatally shot in the head, and a 21-year-old man was struck in the back.
In addition to the fatalities, 18 others were injured.
The victims’ ages range from 17 to 28, with a 17-year-old girl currently in critical condition.
Police have apprehended a 22-year-old man in connection with the shooting.
The suspect, who was shot in the left leg, is currently in custody at the hospital.
