The victim was fatally shot in an alleyway in Hornsey in June 2021.
The retrial at the Old Bailey led to the guilty verdicts for Robel Michael, Jaden McGibbon, and Sichem Mangituka-Mpelo for murder.
Additionally, Jaden McGibbon’s then-girlfriend, Dunila Idrissi Oukili, was found guilty of perverting the course of justice in connection with the case.
The court learned that Taylor Cox was associated with the A Team group, which is linked to the N19 postcode in London.
The prosecution presented evidence that the defendants, armed with at least one gun, targeted Mr. Cox and his friend, ultimately leading to the fatal shooting.
Jurors were informed that a .32 calibre gun was used in the attack, as evidenced by cartridge cases and misfired cartridges found in Oukili’s possession.
The defendants denied the charges against them and chose not to testify during their retrial.
Sentencing for the convicted individuals was adjourned until December 15, as announced by Judge Rebecca Trowler KC.
In response to the verdicts, Taylor Cox’s father expressed gratitude for the police’s efforts and shared the ongoing pain of losing his son.
Detective Chief Inspector Linda Bradley of the Met’s Specialist Crime Command emphasized that the case was a targeted attack, underscoring the tragic loss of young lives due to street violence and the hope that these convictions serve as a warning against resorting to weapons and violence.
The story captures the emotions, legal proceedings, and aftermath of a tragic murder case in North London.
