Is it just me, or is this completely bonkers? How did a foreign country end up hosting Africa’s biggest music awards show? Again and again? I mean, seriously, that’s insane. Can you imagine what our colonial overlords did to us? What is with this attitude of servitude? Where is the logic in that?
It made sense to have it in the United States for the first time last year. There was still a lot of enthusiasm behind Afrobeat. Arenas were packed for our performer. I thought so too.But what’s the use in doing it all over again in the United States a year later? We are the ones advocating for it in Nigeria, thus the answer is yes. Voting is done by us.
Have we forgotten that there was a time when BET refused to honor our musicians with televised award ceremonies? Backstage, awards were being presented to performers.Have we already forgotten? Bet itself predicted that there would be no African ceremony for the Black Entertainment kiniko award. No point in bawling our eyes out in an essay format or in Nigeria.
But why are we leaving the country with this important indigenous honor? Are you getting it now? This makes no sense to me at all.If I were, say, left alone. Stop posting to any blog that even considers publishing it. Let them out of here when they’ve paid for their shed room. Send money to TMZ. Spend your money on all those pricey blogs. Proceed with the payment. Seeing as you don’t want us to be a part of this, just post your award and move on. Simply said, it defies logic.
I have no idea what international honor they’ll bring to Nigeria from overseas.Away from it all, much like the slave trade mentality. But if you give it some thought, are we truly in the clear? Let’s just get better at this. Simply said, it defies logic. Simply said, I don’t get it.What happens if we vote for Nigeria in this country? Bringing the prize home to the United States? Why? We want to shake things up, but I have no idea what international prize will be presented in Nigeria. To be honest, please. I beg.”
