Uzalo triggered a lot of women in Mzansi for its GBV storyline between Njeza and Nosipho in 2021.
Fans applauded the show for highlighting the role of the abuser and displaying society’s reaction when a woman is abused.
The episode triggered a lot of women’s past traumas who were not assisted by their neighbours and family members when they were abused.
A viewer @beynonsammy tweeted:
“Bystanders who are complicit in doing nothing when witnessing it.”
“That ‘Andingendawo’ (I’m not going there) attitude is why so many of our sisters have departed from this World.”
Nosipho’s neighbours watched her being beaten to a pulp and recorded the whole ordeal on their phones instead of helping her.
The show highlighted the reality that women in South Africa are going through.
Viewers applauded the show for not censoring the gender-based violence episode as many now realise that it takes a community to stop gender-based violence.
It’s not just a story between a man and a woman. Society’s reaction to the abuse is just as vital.
He played the role of Cassius in A Place Called Home seasons one and two according to TVSA.
Radebe also played the role of Mlungisi Mweli in Doubt season one and joined season one of Generations as Xolani Mthembu.
His most popular role was in Saints and Sinners as Phakamani Mkhoba alongside Thuso Mbedu and in Rhythm City as Boboza.
