The Premier Soccer League (PSL) has announced that a moment of silence will be observed for fallen Orlando Pirates legend Phil Setshedi ahead of this weekend’s Carling Knockout, DStv Diski Challenge, and Motsepe Foundation Championship fixtures.
Setshedi passed away on Thursday, and his death was confirmed by the Sea Robbers on their social media platforms.
The PSL said in a statement that Setshedi will be honoured in this way as a tribute to his contributions to the game of football.
Setshedi played and coached Pirates in the 1980s before later rejoining the Soweto giants as a general manager.
In 1996, Setshedi was Clive Barker’s assistant, and the pair guided Bafana Bafana to their first and only Africa Cup of Nations title.
The PSL sends its heartfelt condolences to the Setshedi family and the football community at large.
