Reverend Richard Coles Opens Up About Feeling Pushed Out from BBC Role

The 61-year-old broadcaster stepped down from the show in March, marking the end of his 12-year tenure.

Coles joined the program in 2011 but decided to part ways following its relocation from London to Cardiff.

Coles’ Disappointment with BBC’s Response

In an interview with Radio Times, Coles expressed his sense of being hurtled towards the exit and his disappointment with the BBC’s response.

He spoke about his dedication to the organization, highlighting that he expected a similar level of commitment in return.

Hopes for a Return to the BBC

Despite his departure, the former Church of England parish priest, who has made appearances on various BBC comedy programs, including QI, Have I Got News For You, and Would I Lie To You?, expressed his desire to return to the BBC in the future.

Coles retired from clerical duties in 2022 and intends to continue his work in broadcasting.

Transition and Current Endeavors

On March 25, Coles bid farewell to his radio show, thanking listeners for their stories and expressing gratitude for the opportunity to engage with them.

The BBC stated that both presenters were invited to continue the program in Cardiff and that Coles’ departure was acknowledged on the final show, where he was given the opportunity to bid farewell to the listeners on air.
