Colorado Mother Wanted for Alleged Murder and Child Abuse Was Days Away From Losing Custody in Lengthy Legal Battle

Lengthy Custody Battle

Recent court documents unveil the challenging custody battle between Kimberlee Singler, 35, of Colorado Springs, and her ex-husband, Kevin Wentz.

The nearly four-year legal struggle was nearing its end, with Singler allegedly days away from losing custody of her children.

Tragic Incident Unfolds

Singler, currently on the run and wanted for alleged murder, attempted murder, and child abuse, was discovered at an apartment complex after a fake 911 call reporting a burglary.

Authorities found Singler and her 11-year-old daughter, both injured, lying beside the lifeless bodies of her nine-year-old daughter and seven-year-old son.

Custody Battle Dynamics

The custody battle initiated in 2018 following the Singler-Wentz divorce approval in 2020.

A Larimer County Judge had granted Singler full custody, leading to specific visitation schedules for Wentz. Incidents, including an alleged knife threat by Wentz, added complexity to the legal proceedings.

Violations and Custody Shift

In December 2023, Singler violated the child custody agreement by failing to drop the children as scheduled.

Wentz, granted possession by the court, faced difficulties when Singler claimed she was nowhere near the police station and later revealed she was in Colorado with all three children. Full-time custody was granted to Wentz until a January 18, 2024, hearing.

Horrific Tragedy Unfolds

Despite the custody shift, tragedy struck on December 19, as two of Singler’s children were found dead.

The family issued a statement expressing cooperation with authorities and grieving over the horrific incident, emphasizing the focus on the surviving niece.

Manhunt and Unknown Whereabouts

Singler is currently wanted on multiple charges, with a $10 million bond set by a Colorado court. Authorities, suspecting she has left the state, are investigating her disappearance, cordoning off her apartment.

The FBI has joined the manhunt, but crucial details, such as whether Singler fled alone or with assistance, remain unknown
