Thrilling Comeback Performance

Republica fans were treated to a burst of nostalgia as the iconic 90s band made a lively comeback on a recent episode of This Morning.

Performing their hit song “Ready To Go,” the alternative rock group demonstrated that the passage of time had not dimmed their energetic stage presence.

Timeless Looks: Saffron Sprackling Shines at 55

Lead singer Saffron Sprackling, now 55, stole the show with her vibrant performance, looking remarkably similar to her appearance 26 years ago when Republica first released “Ready To Go.” Sporting her iconic bob hairstyle with a cropped fringe and red highlights, Saffron exuded the same charisma that endeared her to fans in the 90s.

Republica’s 90s Fame and Hiatus

The band, known for their alternative rock hits like “Ready To Go” and “Drop Dead Gorgeous,” gained popularity between 1996 and 1999.

After a hiatus in 2001, they regrouped in 2008. The recent performance on This Morning transported viewers back to the heyday of Republica, with comments reflecting the excitement of reliving youthful memories.

Behind the Scenes: Saffron’s Journey and Band Dynamics

Speaking to presenters Cat Deeley and Craig Doyle before the performance, Saffron shared insights into Republica’s early days, recounting their overwhelming experience signing with RCA America after the release of their self-titled debut album.

The band’s lineup now includes Saffron on vocals, Tim Dorney on the keyboard, and Johnny Male on guitar, with a new single titled “New York.”

Record Label Challenges and Unfinished Business

Republica’s journey includes the release of their debut record in 1996 and the follow-up “Speed Ballads” in 1998.

However, their record label, Deconstruction Records, folded shortly after the latter’s release, preventing it from reaching the United States. Saffron acknowledged a sense of “unfinished business” due to record company politics during the 90s.

Saffron’s Post-Rock Career: A Shift to Frontline Key Work

In 2020, Saffron embraced a significant change from her rock star days, working as a mental health and social care officer.

Amid the challenges of the Covid pandemic, she took on 12-hour night shifts as a frontline key worker. Despite her busy schedule, Saffron emphasized the importance of making time for music, describing it as vital for her mental health and a deeply cherished part of her life.

Reflecting on the 90s: Unforgettable Memories

Saffron shared reflections on the band’s journey in the 1990s, acknowledging that despite getting caught up in record company politics, those times mostly bring back wonderful memories.

Republica’s recent comeback performance on This Morning adds a new chapter to their storied musical legacy.
