Queensland CCTV video shows Logan kids on bikes ‘circling’ pensioner before stealing his belongings

Sunshine state pensioner has been left afraid to leave his home after heartless children as young as eight threatened him on their bicycles before robbing him.

The elderly man was sitting at a table by a carpark in Logan, Queensland when the two eight-year-old boys approached and circled him on their bicycles.

One of the boys then pinched a shopping bag full of groceries from the old man’s table, racing off with it through the car park and onto the road.

The man chased after the boys but tripped and was sent flying across the pavers, before he was left helplessly sitting on his knees as the cruel youngsters fled with his shopping.

CCTV footage showed the kids approaching the man and riding laps around him at the beginning of the disturbing saga.

One child was on a scooter, the other on a bicycle as witnesses saw them appearing to taunt the man sitting at the table.

An eight-year-old on the bicycle snatched the bag before the man could get up.

Online reaction to the video broadcast by Nine News Queensland, ranged from disappointment to heartbreak.

‘That’s just dreadful. Poor man,’ wrote one viewer on Twitter.

‘That makes me so angry!’ wrote another.

Some blamed the parents, shocked to find the children were only eight years old, another wanted increased police intervention.

‘Where were the parents???’ asked one. ‘In my opinion the parents are just as much to blame.’

Another added: ‘Well they are off to a good start. Bring back old fashioned policing. They won’t do it again.’
