…By Jack Sylva for TDPel Media. In a ceremony held at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, President Muhammadu Buhari swore in seven newly appointed federal commissioners of the Revenue, Mobilization, Allocation, and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC).
The oath-taking occurred just before the commencement of the Valedictory Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting.
The newly appointed commissioners include Senator Ayogu Eze (Enugu State), Peter Opara (Imo State), Hawa Aliyu (Jigawa State), Rekiya Haruna (Kebbi State), Ismaila Agaka (Kwara State), Kolawole Abimbola (Oyo State), and Ayuba Ngako (Federal Capital Territory).
Vice President Yemi Osinbajo also presented a report during the same FEC meeting, representing the findings of the health reform committee.
This committee, led by Vice President Osinbajo, was tasked with developing a plan to achieve Universal Health Coverage in Nigeria.
A key recommendation from the report is the allocation of increased funding for the health sector, surpassing 10 percent.
This gathering of the Federal Executive Council holds significance as it marks President Buhari’s final meeting in his capacity as the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
President Buhari is scheduled to hand over the reins to Bola Tinubu on May 29, 2023.
Tinubu will subsequently form his cabinet within sixty days of assuming office.
