Postponement of 3rd Mainland Bridge Palliative Works Due to Heavy Rainfall

The Lagos State Government has announced the postponement of the scheduled Two Sundays palliative works on the deteriorated segments of the 3rd Mainland Bridge due to the substantial rainfall experienced across the entire metropolis today.

Initially planned for Sunday, September 17th, and Sunday, September 24th, 2023, this maintenance activity has been delayed.

Statement from the Commissioner for Transportation

In a press release issued by Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi, the Lagos State Commissioner for Transportation, it was conveyed that the heavy rain has adversely impacted the preliminary preparations required for the planned palliative works on the bridge’s asphalt surface.

Specifically, these preparations were being carried out by the Lagos State Public Works Corporation.

Commitment to Rescheduling and Safety

Commissioner Osiyemi assured the public that a new date for the palliative works will be determined, with this decision contingent on favorable weather conditions.

He emphasized that the government is committed to communicating this rescheduled date in a timely manner.

While the maintenance activities are postponed, the Transport Commissioner urged motorists to continue using the bridge but advised them to adhere to established safety measures.
