All eyes are set to turn to the Stade de France on October 28, where the highly anticipated Rugby World Cup 2023 final will take place.
After a series of 47 matches held over eight thrilling weeks, two teams have earned the honor of playing for the legendary Webb Ellis Cup. This event promises to be a spectacular showcase, both on and off the pitch.
A Musical Prelude by Mika
As part of the day’s celebrations, World Cup France 2023 is excited to announce that international music artist Mika will deliver a unique five-minute pre-match performance.
Mika will share the stage with the children of la Maîtrise Populaire de l’Opéra, and together, they will perform an energetic and colorful medley that incorporates some of Mika’s biggest hits, rearranged specifically for this occasion.
This musical journey promises to captivate the audience and set the stage for the exciting final.
La Mêlée des Choeurs: A Celebration of Togetherness
Launched in collaboration with the French ministries of Education, Culture, and the Opéra Comique, La Mêlée des Choeurs is a groundbreaking project with a triple focus on art, education, and experience.
A total of 7,000 children from all across France were chosen to record and perform the national anthems of the 20 participating nations of World Cup 2023.
They will be accompanied by la Maîtrise Populaire de l’Opéra Comique, their teachers, and music professors.
These educators underwent a year of training by the teachers of la Maîtrise Populaire de l’Opéra Comique, including artistic director Sarah Kone.
Mika’s Role as Ambassador
Mika was announced as the ambassador of the program in May 2023 and has since worked closely with La Mêlée des Choeurs to deliver the anthems of World Cup 2023.
This promises to be a memorable pre-final show that adds a unique and vibrant dimension to the event.
Mika expressed his enthusiasm, saying, “I am thrilled to be a part of this final match of Rugby World Cup 2023.
The aim of this show is to create a flash of good energy, to spread love, color, and joy with the kids of la Maîtrise Populaire de l’Opéra Comique so that everyone can enjoy the anthems and an amazing match of rugby with all the intensity it deserves.”
