Ugandan Politician Explains Why She Took Back Ambulance Donated To Community After Losing Election

Honourable Evelyn Anite, a prominent politician in Uganda, has clarified her decision to reclaim an ambulance she donated to her district following her electoral defeat in 2021.

It is common during election campaigns for politicians to distribute cash and material gifts in the hope of garnering substantial votes, and Anite was no exception in this practice.

On October 3, 2023, African Facts Zone posted a reminder via X of how Honourable Anite took back the ambulance she had donated to her district after her electoral loss.

The post highlighted the situation, stating, “Ugandan Politician Evelyn Anite took back an ambulance she donated to her district after losing an election in 2021.”

Responding to this post, Anite, who currently serves as the Ugandan State Minister of Finance for Investment and Privatization, confirmed that she indeed retrieved the ambulance and expressed no remorse for her actions.

She explained that she refused to leave empty-handed after the same individuals to whom she had donated the ambulance did not vote for her.

Anite even cited a scripture, Galatians 6:7, to justify her actions, emphasizing that there was no reason to feel ashamed because she had sold the ambulance.

In her own words, Anite stated, “First, it’s true I took back my ambulance, and I have no apologies. Why did I do it? It’s because they didn’t vote for me.

So, did you expect me to walk away with nothing? Galatians 6:7: A man reaps what he sows. I’m so shameless to the extent that I have sold it.”
