Lagos State Police Uncover Arms Manufacturing Factory in Ibeju-Lekki

I. Discovery of Arms Manufacturing Factory in Lagos

The Lagos State Police Command has made a significant breakthrough by uncovering an illegal arms manufacturing factory in the Idata Community, situated within the Ibeju-Lekki area of the state.

This alarming discovery has highlighted the need for stringent law enforcement measures to address the proliferation of arms in the region.

II. Arrest of Blacksmiths Linked to the Factory

During the operation, two individuals, Musiliu Gbenga, aged 21, and Owolabi Azeez, aged 22, were apprehended at the arms fabrication factory.

These blacksmiths are believed to be involved in the unlawful production of firearms.

III. Parade of Suspects

In a press conference held at the conference hall of the Lagos State Police Command in Ikeja, Lagos, the two blacksmiths were paraded alongside 30 other suspects who had been apprehended for various criminal activities.

These crimes included cultism, theft, and illegal possession of firearms.

IV. Spokesperson’s Statement

Benjamin Hundeyin, the spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, provided insights into the arrests and the scope of criminal activities that had been curtailed in the span of one month.

The police’s swift action had led to the apprehension of the suspects.

V. Uncovering the Firearms Fabrication Factory

Hundeyin explained that the discovery of the factory where illicit firearms were manufactured was based on actionable intelligence.

This intelligence had identified a blacksmith engaged in the production of firearms intended for sale to criminals operating around Idata Village in Ibeju-Lekki.

VI. Recovered Items

The operation to dismantle the factory resulted in the recovery of a significant cache of arms and related materials.

Among the items seized were three single-barrel locally-made pistols, one double-barrel locally-made gun, one single-barrel locally-made gun, two single-barrel locally-made long guns, 10 expended cartridges, twelve long pipes, two drilling machines, one gas cylinder, one vehicle, and various tools used in the fabrication process.

VII. Cultists Arrested

Additionally, the police had apprehended several individuals involved in cult-related activities.

One of the arrested suspects, known as Skipo, was a notorious cultist implicated in the killing of a rival cult member.

He was arrested with two 9mm ammunition rounds in his possession.

VIII. Cult-Related Arrests

The investigation led to the apprehension of several other individuals associated with cult activities.

These arrests included those in possession of locally made firearms, live cartridges, a dagger, and various charms.

police emphasized that these individuals were confirmed members of different cult groups.
