Establishment of Special Squad

The Nigeria Police Force has introduced a Special Operation Squad aimed at addressing the alarming security concerns in the volatile regions of Plateau State.

This strategic unit will commence operations immediately.

Tragic Attacks Unfold

Reports from Gistlover detailed the gruesome massacre of vulnerable locals, including women, children, and the elderly, in over 15 communities across Bokkos and Barkin Ladi Local Government Areas.

Suspected terrorists executed a well-planned attack that lasted an hour, resulting in tragic fatalities and the complete incineration of a settlement.

Police Chief’s Visit and Assurance

Following the devastating incident, the Inspector General of Police (IGP) arrived in Jos to assess the situation.

The death toll had soared to over 200 due to coordinated assaults reportedly carried out by suspected armed herders.

Pledges and Commitments

During a visit to Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang, the Police Chief assured stakeholders of increased tactical deployments and intelligence support.

IGP Egbetokun emphasized the commencement of a special operation, marking the launch of the police force’s special intervention squad.

Collaboration for Resolution

Egbetokun stressed the importance of community collaboration, urging the people of Plateau to work hand-in-hand with security agencies.

He highlighted that the conflict shouldn’t be perceived as tribal warfare but as a battle against criminal elements threatening the state and the nation.

Unity Against Criminality

In a plea for unity, the Police Chief urged citizens not to view the conflict as an ethnic or tribal confrontation.

Instead, he emphasized the collective fight against criminal elements, calling for cooperation, information sharing, and active involvement from all communities to combat these common threats.
