Police Discover Body During Search for Missing Woman
In a concerning turn of events, police have uncovered a body in a woodland area while searching for Gabriella Kosilko, a 26-year-old woman who went missing on her way home from work.
Gabriella’s Disappearance
Gabriella Kosilko, aged 26, was last seen at a store on Fosse Road North in Leicester at 11.30pm on Thursday, August 31. She had been shopping for food and drinks and was reported missing the following day when she failed to return home after her night shift. The mystery deepened when her red Audi A1 car was discovered abandoned on Ratby Lane in Leicester at 4.20pm on Friday, September 1.
Arrest of a Suspect
Leicestershire Police took swift action and arrested a 30-year-old man in connection with Gabriella’s disappearance. Initially, he was apprehended on suspicion of kidnap and later on suspicion of murder. Disturbingly, the man was found unresponsive in his jail cell the following morning and was declared dead. It is worth noting that Gabriella Kosilko and the deceased suspect were known to each other.
Independent Investigation
Given the circumstances surrounding the suspect’s death while in police custody, a mandatory referral has been made to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC), who have initiated an independent investigation.
Discovery of a Body
In the midst of the search for Gabriella Kosilko, Leicestershire Police made a grim discovery. They recovered a body in the Groby Pool area, located in woodland. While formal identification is pending, it is believed to be that of Gabriella Kosilko, who had been reported missing on Friday, September 1.

Detective Chief Inspector Mark Sinski from the East Midlands Special Operations Unit Murder Investigation Team stated, “Our enquiries into the circumstances surrounding Gabriela’s death continue, and anyone who may have any information is asked to get in touch.” He urged potential witnesses to come forward, especially those who might have been in the vicinity of Newtown Linford Lane around 2.20pm on Friday, September 1, and may have captured footage of a red Audi A1 parked on the side of the road or noticed anyone near the vehicle. Additionally, anyone in the Ratby Lane area on Friday afternoon is encouraged to share any information that might be relevant.
