Police Await Kyle Clifford’s Health Status Before Questioning Him in Connection with the Triple Crossbow Murder Case in Bushey, Hertfordshire

Elizabeth Haigh reported on July 30, 2024, that police are still waiting to question Kyle Clifford, the main suspect in the tragic crossbow murders of Carol, Hannah, and Louise Hunt.

Inquests into the deaths of these three family members are set to begin today.

Carol Hunt, 61, the wife of BBC racing commentator John Hunt, along with her daughters Hannah, 28, and Louise, 25, were discovered severely injured at their Bushey, Hertfordshire home on the evening of July 9.

Authorities are holding off on questioning Kyle Clifford until medical staff confirm his ability to participate in an interview. Clifford, who was on the run, was admitted to the hospital after a police manhunt.

In a harrowing development, the inquest revealed that Hannah Hunt managed to phone the police while she was restrained at the family home.

Officers arrived to find Hannah still alive, despite having a crossbow bolt lodged in her chest.

Unfortunately, all three women were declared dead at the scene.

According to Hertfordshire Coroner’s Court, Hannah had texted someone that she was “tied up” at the house and requested that they contact the police.

She then made a call herself, reporting that she and her family had been shot. The call ended abruptly, but when police arrived, they found Hannah alive at the doorway with the crossbow bolt still in her chest.

Clifford’s Arrest and Health Status

Kyle Clifford, the ex-boyfriend of Louise and a former soldier, was apprehended in Enfield, north London, roughly 24 hours after the attack.

He was found with suspected self-inflicted injuries, including a crossbow bolt that may have injured his spinal cord.

The clock to formally question him on suspicion of murder will start once he is able to be interviewed.

Family’s Tribute and Plea for Privacy

In the wake of the attack, John Hunt and his daughter Amy expressed their immense grief. They thanked the public for their support and kind messages, which have been a great source of comfort during this difficult time.

They have asked for privacy as they begin to process their loss and start the grieving process.

A Message of Thanks

John Hunt also expressed gratitude for the public’s support through a statement read by his colleague Matt Chapman on Sky Sports Racing. Despite the overwhelming sadness, he praised his eldest daughter Amy for her strength and support.

He reassured the public that they are managing through this tough time and appreciate every message of sympathy.

Ongoing Investigation

Detective Superintendent Rob Hall from the major crime unit in Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, and Hertfordshire acknowledged the ongoing investigation and the arrest of Clifford.

The authorities continue to work diligently on the case, with their thoughts remaining with the victims’ family during this tragic period.
