The assembly had previously been sealed for two months due to the ongoing speakership tussle between former Speaker Ayuba Abok and his successor, Yakubu Sanda.
Brief Unsealing and Subsequent Closure Amid Political Transition
Surprisingly, the assembly was briefly unsealed on Tuesday to allow lawmakers to hold a plenary session, which took place just 24 hours after the inauguration of Caleb Mutfwang as the new governor of the state.
However, the respite was short-lived as the police once again sealed the assembly complex, obstructing the lawmakers from reconvening for their scheduled plenary session on Wednesday.

Gwottson Fom, the representative of Jos South Constituency, expressed strong condemnation of the police’s actions and voiced his concern over the impediment to the legislative functions of the state lawmakers.
Fom denounced the sealing of the assembly complex, emphasizing that it was an obstruction to democracy in Plateau State.
He further stated that a press conference would be held to bring international attention to the situation unfolding in the state.
