…By Dorcas Funmi for TDPel Media. Governor Simon Lalong of Plateau State has given his approval for the appointment of Barr. Mrs Rauta Joshua Dakok as the new Head of Service in Plateau State.
This announcement comes shortly before the inauguration of the governor-elect, Barrister Caleb Mutfuwang, who won the election on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Barr. Mrs Rauta Joshua Dakok previously served as the Permanent Secretary of General Administration in the office of the Head of Service.
She will be assuming the position previously held by Engr. Sunday Hyat, who retired from service after reaching the retirement age and receiving a four-month extension from the governor.
Having obtained a Law degree from the University of Jos in 1988, Dakok began her career with the Plateau State Government in 1990 as a State Counsel.
Throughout her tenure, she has steadily progressed through the ranks, holding various positions within the civil service.
Her experience encompasses diverse ministries, including the Civil Service Commission, Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Budget and Economic Planning, Finance, and the Ministry of Justice, where she served as the Solicitor General and Permanent Secretary.
Dakok’s expertise and contributions extend beyond her civil service role.
She has served on several committees and boards, entrusted with significant assignments at both the state and national levels.
Additionally, she has been actively involved in professional associations, previously holding the position of Vice Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association in Plateau State and being a member of the International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA).
In the past, she also chaired the Plateau State Chapter of FIDA.
The swearing-in ceremony for Dakok and other appointed officials was scheduled to take place on Saturday, May 27th, 2023, at 1 pm in the Governor’s Office located in Little Rayfield, Jos.
