…By Larry John for TDPel Media. The spokesperson for the 2023 Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential Campaign, Daniel Bwala, has expressed his dissatisfaction with President Bola Tinubu’s Democracy Day speech.
Bwala raised concerns about the exclusion of key political figures, Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi, from the president’s remarks.
Both individuals are contesting the election results in court.
Omission of Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi:
Bwala voiced his confusion during an interview on Channels Television, questioning how President Tinubu could discuss democracy and the fight for democracy in Nigeria without mentioning Atiku Abubakar.
He expected Tinubu to acknowledge the significant contributions of the former vice president and Peter Obi in his Democracy Day address.
Atiku’s withdrawal of his candidacy for Chief Moshood “MKO” Abiola in the 1993 presidential primaries, which boosted the democratic process, was highlighted by Bwala.
Peter Obi’s Remarkable Political Move:
Bwala further emphasized Peter Obi’s unprecedented move of becoming a third force in Nigerian politics.
He applauded Obi’s success, particularly in securing votes in regions dominated by his opponents.
Bwala regarded the EndSARS movement, led by the youth, as a significant act that strengthens democracy.
He criticized Tinubu for failing to mention this youth-led movement in his speech.
Inconsistency with Unity:
The PDP spokesperson contended that such oversights are inconsistent with the president’s claimed position of unity.
Bwala’s dissatisfaction stems from the omission of Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, and the youth-led EndSARS movement from President Tinubu’s Democracy Day speech.
