Abdul claims that in 2001, during discussions for her role in a singing competition, Lythgoe insulted her, calling her a “has been” celebrity, despite her suitability for the role.

These derogatory comments left Abdul hesitant, although she proceeded in hopes that it was an isolated incident.

The lawsuit details two alleged instances of sexual assault. The first reportedly occurred during American Idol auditions in a hotel elevator, where Lythgoe allegedly assaulted Abdul.

She immediately informed her representatives.

The second incident took place during a professional dinner after she signed a contract for So You Think You Can Dance, where Lythgoe purportedly made unwanted advances, claiming they would make a powerful couple.
