Orlando Pirates Legend Andries Sebola Warns Patrick Maswanganyi About His Attitude Issues Following the MTN8 Quarter-Final Win Against SuperSport United

Orlando Pirates legend Andries Sebola has recently given some strong advice to Patrick Maswanganyi about his conduct on the field.

In a standout performance last Saturday, Maswanganyi played a key role in the Buccaneers’ 3-1 win over SuperSport United during the MTN8 quarter-finals held at Orlando Stadium.

His impressive display included skillful maneuvers and sharp forward passes, making him a constant threat to SuperSport’s defense.

Teaming up with Monnapule Saleng, Relebohile Mofokeng, and Kabelo Dlamini, Maswanganyi formed a potent attacking force.

Meanwhile, Saleng, Olisa Ndah, and Evidence Makgopa scored for Pirates, while Vincent Pule scored the only goal for SuperSport on his debut.

Sebola’s Concerns About Maswanganyi’s Attitude

Despite Maswanganyi’s positive impact on the pitch, Sebola has expressed concern about his attitude.

The legendary player highlighted that Maswanganyi’s behavior, particularly during the MTN8 match, could hinder his career progress.

Sebola noted that Maswanganyi needs to manage his attitude and temper, referencing a moment where he was involved in a confrontation with opposing players, including an incident where he elbowed Gape Moralo.

According to Sebola, such actions could have resulted in a red card if the referee had noticed.

Sebola’s Warning

Sebola’s advice is clear: to succeed at Pirates and become a prominent figure in South African football, Maswanganyi must control his emotions and behavior.

Despite acknowledging Maswanganyi’s talent, Sebola emphasized that he has not yet reached the level of a big player for Pirates and must work on his attitude to fully realize his potential.

Maswanganyi’s Progress at Pirates

Currently in his second season with Orlando Pirates after transferring from SuperSport United, Maswanganyi has already made a significant impact. In his debut season, he appeared in 40 matches, scoring 10 goals and providing 12 assists. His contributions were pivotal in Pirates’ victories in the 2023 MTN8 and Nedbank Cup.

Recently, his strong performances have also earned him call-ups to the Bafana Bafana squad. Despite this progress, Sebola’s advice serves as a reminder of the importance of maintaining professionalism both on and off the field.
