Minister in The Presidency responsible for Government Communication and Information System (GCIS), Khumbudzo Ntshavheni, will tomorrow evening host the Southern African Development Community (SADC) Media Awards Dinner .
The Minister has invited all media practitioners who cover integrated stories within the SADC region to attend the event on Friday at 6pm at the IDC Auditorium, 19 Fredman Drive, Sandown, Sandton .
“The SADC Media Awards aim to encourage media in SADC member States to report on cross-border issues pertaining to the region, as well as to recognise excellence in journalism in the area of print, photo, television and radio .
The event will bring together journalists, foreign dignitaries, academics and government to interact on strategies to promote SADC regional integration,” the GCIS said .
The SADC Media Awards Dinner will also celebrate the 2023 national winners and provide positive guidance on the entries of the 2024 Chapter of the Awards .
The SADC Media Awards were established in 1996 to recognise best media work in disseminating information on SADC to support the process of cooperation and integration in the region .
The Minister will also launch the 2024 SADC Media Awards Competition at the event .
