…By Dorcas Funmi for TDPel Media. The Nigerian Vice President, Kashim Shettima, wasted no time in getting to work following his inauguration at the Eagles Square.
Just 24 hours after taking the oath of office, Shettima resumed his duties at the Vice President’s Wing of the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
Addressing State House correspondents in his office, he expressed his commitment, as well as that of President Bola Tinubu, to improving the lives of Nigerians.
Shettima also assured the public of the administration’s dedication to resolving the fuel scarcity issue caused by Tinubu’s announcement of fuel subsidy removal.
Adjournment in APM’s Petition Against Shettima
In the meantime, the Presidential Election Petition Court in Abuja has temporarily postponed the hearing of the Allied Peoples Movement’s (APM) petition against the candidacy of Vice President Kashim Shettima.
This development occurred after President Bola Tinubu’s counsel referred the panel to a judgment recently issued by the Supreme Court.
The APM had taken the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the All Progressives Congress (APC), Tinubu, Shettima, and the APC’s initial Vice-Presidential placeholder, Kabiru Masari, to court, alleging the unlawful nomination of Shettima.
Tinubu’s Lawyer Cites Supreme Court Judgment
During the hearing, Wole Olanipekun SAN, the lawyer representing President Bola Tinubu, informed the justices that a recent Supreme Court judgment addressed similar matters raised by the APM.
This reference to the Supreme Court’s ruling presented a legal argument that could potentially impact the APM’s case against Shettima’s candidacy.
