Former Stellenbosch FC midfielder Nhlanhla Mgaga has embarked on a new chapter in his football career by joining Marumo Gallants for training sessions.
This move follows Mgaga’s departure from Stellenbosch after his contract expired last month. He initially joined Stellenbosch from Baroka FC back in June 2022.
During his time with Stellenbosch, Mgaga made significant contributions, appearing in 37 games across various competitions last season alone.
Under the guidance of coach Steve Barker, he accumulated a total of 63 appearances for the club.
Notably, Mgaga played a pivotal role in Stellenbosch’s achievement as Carling Knockout champions, marking their maiden qualification for the CAF Confederation Cup.
Now training with Marumo Gallants, Mgaga aims to catch the eye of the technical team and secure a permanent spot with the team.
Previously linked with AmaZulu FC before leaving Stellenbosch, Mgaga is focused on making a lasting impression at his new club.
Other Players on Trial at Marumo Gallants
Apart from Mgaga, Marumo Gallants are also assessing several other players as they bolster their squad for the upcoming season.
This includes former Mamelodi Sundowns defender Nicholus Lukhubeni, along with ex-Kaizer Chiefs duo Kamohelo Mahlatsi and Kgotso Moleko.
Additionally, Edwin Gymah, who recently parted ways with Sekhukhune United, is also undergoing trials with the team.
Gallants’ Relocation and Ambitions
Recently relocating to Bloemfontein in the Free State province, Marumo Gallants have set ambitious goals under the leadership of head coach Dylan Kerr. Kerr, who previously guided the team to the semi-finals of the CAF Confederation Cup, will lead them in their new home at Dr Petrus Molemela Stadium, with key matches scheduled at the Toyota Free State Stadium.
Marumo Gallants are gearing up for an exciting season ahead, aiming to build on past successes and make an impact in South African football under Kerr’s direction.
