Mrs Obiano Receives Excellence Award In Social Services

A socio-political women group, Anambra Women of Peace and Growth Initiative, has presented excellence award to wife of the governor of Anambra State, Dr Ebelechukwu Obiano.

The group, which has members across the twenty-one local government areas of Anambra State, is one of the frontline women groups that played key role in last year’s governorship election.

Presenting the award to the governor’s wife, represented by the Project Manager of Caring Family Enhancement Initiative, CAFE, and Deputy Chief Press Secretary to Governor Willie Obiano, Mr. Emeka Ozumba, the leader of the women group, Mrs. Ngozi Orjiakor said that the award was well deserved given the immense role that the governor’s wife played in social services, including constant reach outs to Anambra women, stretching almost eight years of her husband’s administration.

Mrs. Orjiakor also noted that Anambra women heeded Dr Mrs. Obiano’s appeal to vote for the All-Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, and its candidate, Professor Chukwuma Soludo in the last election, because they took her stance as a solemn call of a mother, who would always want the best for her children.

Receiving the award, the governor’s wife expressed joy at the honour, and reminded the women that though her husband’s tenure in office is due to exhaust soon, she would continue to stick around to do her works of charity.

She thanked them for voting right during the election, and urged them to give similar support as they had always given to her to the wife of the incoming governor, promising that her successor would continue in the right path.

Correspondent, Dan Ezeigwe reports that Dr Mrs. Obiano also praised the bravery of Anambra Women, stating that throughout her husband’s time in office, they had always given her the maximum support and replicated her affiliation with pure love.
