Dine-and-Dash Incident at Liverpool Thai Restaurant
A Thai restaurant in Liverpool, Lemongrass, has publicly called out a couple for dining and dashing, leaving without paying their £76 bill. The incident occurred on Sunday, September 10, around 6:30 pm. The restaurant shared CCTV footage of the pair entering, requesting a table, dining, and then allegedly leaving without settling their bill. Staff at Lemongrass described the couple as “very rude” and expressed their displeasure at the incident.
Description of the Couple
The man involved had short hair and was dressed entirely in black, including a The North Face jacket. The woman had dirty blonde hair tied up in a bun and wore a blue top, dark bottoms, and dark-colored trainers. CCTV footage also captured the pair standing outside and smoking, after which they reportedly left without paying.
Reaction from Locals and Restaurant
Upon sharing the incident on its Facebook page, Lemongrass received support from locals who sympathized with the business. Many comments condemned the couple’s actions, describing them as “greedy low life vultures” and expressing embarrassment on their behalf. Lemongrass confirmed that they had reported the incident to Merseyside Police.
Police Investigation
Merseyside Police confirmed that they received a report of theft from the restaurant on Smithdown Road on September 10. The report stated that a man and woman left the restaurant without paying around 8:45 pm. Police investigations are ongoing, and they have encouraged anyone with information to contact them via Twitter or Facebook, quoting reference number 23000865205.
