Timipre Sylva, Minister of State for Petroleum, has stated that an investigation will be initiated to determine why there was so much methanol in the gasoline imported into the nation.
The Minister, who declined to reveal the names of the companies involved during a press conference following the Federal Executive Council meeting in State House on Wednesday February 9, said they will be revealed after the investigations are completed.

When asked if companies found culpable will be blacklisted, the Minister said the federal government is not in a rush to mete out any measures until the actual cause has been uncovered.
Sylva also said they will be considering Nigerians whose cars have been damaged after buying the adulterated fuel.
He said;  “We know that some people’s vehicles must have been damaged, that is also going to the taken into consideration in dealing with the situation.”
