Michael Bolton, a 70-year-old Grammy-winning pop icon, has sold more than 65 million records worldwide, making him one of the most successful musicians in history.
Michael, who is divorced and resides in Connecticut in the U.S., has three adult daughters and six grandchildren.make no assumptions.
I needed 18 years to succeed in the music industry.
My desire to make music and write songs kept me going through several failed efforts at a career.
When I was 16 years old, New York’s Epic Records made me an opportunity to record a few singles.
My mother had to co-sign the contract since I was so young, which was exciting and bizarre.
I probably assumed I was destined for success from the start.
But before I knew it, a year had passed, both singles had been released but failed to chart, and I had been let go by the label.
Then I had a deal with RCA for two albums, but they weren’t successful and I was let go.
My rent checks were bounced, and I was in a difficult situation.
However, I had to constantly tell myself that I had already been signed twice and to see it as a positive that people thought I had something.
I had met other artists in the same situation, but none of them succeeded.
The first to take off was my songwriting career; it seemed like everything I wrote was recorded by legendary performers like Cher, Barbra Streisand, and Laura Branigan, who had a success with How Am I Supposed To Live Without You in 1983.
Once I recorded it in 1990, it spent six weeks at No. 1 in the charts.
I didn’t let myself enjoy that excitement to its fullest yet I didn’t take it for granted either.
The exhilaration of previous record deals failing to materialize had such a profound impact on me that I couldn’t take it happening again.
I was getting ready.
I did take it in at last. In 1990, when I received my first Grammy, I had an unreal experience.
Even though I dislike the traveling involved with touring, I realize I shouldn’t take the fact that people attend my shows for granted when I hear myself complaining.
It’s crucial to be grateful for the present and your possessions.
I still have a strong interest for performing, recording, and writing songs.
Being a beacon of hope in what sometimes seems like a dark and difficult world is the theme of my most recent album, Spark Of Light.
Spark Of Light is now accessible.
