In a recent legal battle, Lauryn Goodman’s lawyer, Charlotte Conner, has alleged that Kyle Walker has been treating his daughter Kinara differently from his other children.
Conner, who represented Goodman in a High Court dispute over child maintenance, argued that Goodman wanted Kinara to receive the same financial support as her older brother Kairo and her four half-brothers from Walker’s marriage to Annie Kilner.
Financial Disputes and Public Scrutiny
The case has attracted significant public attention. Goodman, 33, was accused by the judge of treating Walker, 34, who earns approximately £160,000 a week, as though he were an “open-ended chequebook.”
Among her demands were an £31,000 Astro Turf and £500 monthly for hot tub maintenance. Goodman faced criticism for requesting Astro Turf for Kinara, despite her belief that it would benefit Kinara’s future football aspirations.
Supporters of Goodman argue that her older children enjoy similar luxuries, making her requests seem reasonable.
The Focus on Equality
Conner emphasized that the proceedings are centered around ensuring fair treatment for a one-year-old girl. She stressed that Goodman’s primary goal was to achieve financial equality for Kinara compared to her siblings.
According to Conner, Walker struggled to recognize the appropriateness of this request.
The lawyer pointed out the irony of Walker’s reluctance to publicly acknowledge his daughter while the case remains under scrutiny for its transparency.
Concerns About Reporting Restrictions
Conner also criticized the court for lifting reporting restrictions in Kinara’s case while maintaining them in a previous case involving payments for Kairo, Goodman’s older child.
She noted that the previous hearing had never been reported due to family court restrictions. Conner argued that despite media coverage of the parties’ relationship, details about their children and financial disputes have largely remained private.
Judicial Remarks and Perceptions
The judge’s comments have been mixed. Goodman was labeled as “often difficult, unreasonable, and demanding,” with her credibility questioned due to a perceived lack of truthfulness.
In contrast, Walker was praised as a “perfectly straightforward witness” who answered questions thoughtfully. Goodman feels that she did not receive a fair hearing, partly because Walker appeared in court shortly after England’s Euros final.
