LAGOS FIRST LADY CHARGES MUSLIM FAITHFUL TO IMBIBE LESSONS OF RAMADAN

The First Lady of Lagos State, Dr. (Mrs.) Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu has charged all Muslim faithful in the State to take advantage of the lessons learned during the month of Ramadan and replicate the same in their daily lives.

Dr. Sanwo-Olu gave the advice during the Laylatul Quadri ceremony held on Thursday at the Lagos House Mosque, Alausa, Ikeja, pointing out that there is an urgent need for all parents to take responsibility and show a higher level of commitment in the training of their children and wards.

Represented at the event by the wife of the Deputy Governor, Mrs. Oluremi Hamzat, the First Lady described the moral decadence in society as alarming and encouraged the older generation to show a higher level of mentoring to the youths as the future of the country is dependent on them.

Stressing the need to be thankful to the Almighty God for the mercy bestowed on residents of Lagos State and the nation at large, Mrs. Sanwo-Olu observed that the time for more intense prayers is now, especially as the holy month of Ramadan is winding up. ‘Let us continue to commit our State and indeed the entire country to prayers, it is our sole obligation to this country”, she said.

In his lecture, Dr. Sa’eid Ahmed admonished leaders to be mindful of the positions they hold in government and see it as a public trust, noting that all human actions will be accounted for, just as posterity will judge each individual in line with their character and deeds. Dignitaries present at the Laylatul Quadri ceremony of the Ramadan Tafsir lecture include top government functionaries, Islamic Scholars and Muslim Leaders from the five divisions of Lagos State, among others.
