Despite being the highest-paid wide receiver in NFL history, Justin Jefferson isn’t rushing to splurge on lavish real estate.
As viewers of the Netflix series Receiver discovered, Jefferson was living in a modest townhouse in the Minneapolis area while the show was being filmed in 2023.
Jefferson recently signed a staggering four-year, $140 million contract, which makes him the highest-paid receiver with an annual salary of $35 million.
However, he’s in no hurry to use this newfound wealth on a grand estate.
As he shared with reporters at training camp, his current needs are modest. “I’m just one person, and I don’t have a big family,” he explained. “I don’t need a $10 million mansion. It’s not something I grew up with.”
Jefferson’s upbringing in Louisiana shaped his values. He recalls growing up with parents who were content with what they had, and he remains appreciative of his modest beginnings.
Though he doesn’t rule out moving to a larger home in the future, he’s not letting his current success change who he is.
Behind the Scenes of Receiver
The Netflix series Receiver offers an inside look at five NFL players during the 2023 season, including Jefferson.
The show is a sequel to the popular Quarterback, which provided a glimpse into the lives of NFL quarterbacks.
Jefferson enjoyed the opportunity to showcase the raw emotions and competitive spirit of the game, especially through the trash talk that was captured while he was mic’d up during games.
Personal Life and Legal Matters
Earlier this month, Jefferson was recognized as the father of a baby girl, following a court order issued by Judge Aldo J Russo. This order outlines interim child support arrangements between Jefferson and the child’s mother, Andrea Galea.
The two have had a complicated relationship, with Galea initially accusing Jefferson of pressuring her to abort the pregnancy.
Despite these claims, Galea chose to keep the child, and baby Stella was born in December.
Jefferson and Galea have both requested paternity testing and are working out financial and healthcare arrangements.
The court order also allows Jefferson to maintain contact with his daughter via FaceTime during Galea’s travels, including a recent trip to Italy.
Career Achievements and Future Outlook
Selected 22nd overall in the 2020 NFL Draft, Jefferson has quickly made a name for himself with the Minnesota Vikings.
He leads the NFL in receiving yards per game and has been a three-time Pro Bowl selection, earning the Offensive Player of the Year award in 2022.
Despite missing seven games due to injury last season, Jefferson remains a key player for the Vikings, who are currently transitioning to new quarterbacks, including free-agent Sam Darnold and rookie JJ McCarthy.
