As the new PSL season approaches, Magesi FC CEO John Mathibe has shed light on the recent departure of veteran administrator Peter Koutroulis.
The change comes after a successful season where Koutroulis played a pivotal role in the club’s achievements.
Koutroulis joined Magesi FC in August 2023 as a technical team advisor.
His vast experience in football administration was instrumental in helping the team, coached by Clinton Larsen, clinch the 2023/24 Motsepe Foundation Championship.
This victory secured their automatic promotion to the South African top-flight league.
Magesi FC was declared champions with two games remaining, having accumulated 57 points from 30 matches.
The End of an Era
In discussing Koutroulis’ departure, Mathibe confirmed that the administrator’s one-year contract with Magesi FC ended in June 2024.
The club did not pursue extending Koutroulis’ contract, leaving his position vacant as they prepare for their new journey in the Betway Premiership.
Mathibe mentioned that the club’s management would need to deliberate on whether to bring in a new person for Koutroulis’ former role.
Koutroulis’ Next Steps
Peter Koutroulis has since taken up a new role with Casric Stars, another club in the Motsepe Foundation Championship.
He joins the team alongside coach Selaoetse ‘Sly’ Mosala, who will serve as an assistant coach.
Casric Stars are hopeful that Koutroulis’ experience will help them achieve promotion to the South African elite league, similar to what he accomplished with Magesi FC.
As Magesi FC navigates this transitional phase, the club’s future plans and new appointments will be closely watched by fans and supporters.
