‘Jerusalema’ flies high: Master KG nominated for Swiss Music Award

Released in 2019, Master KG and Nomcebo Zikode’s smash hit Jerusalema is still flying high across the globe! Almost four years after its release, the track is celebrating yet another achievement! The remix of their mega-hit featuring Nigerian singer-songwriter Burna Boy has been nominated for an award at the Swiss Music Awards.

Besides topping charts in South Africa, Master KG’s Jerusalema was picked up by radio stations across the globe. The upbeat track also sparked a dance challenge that kept the world grooving during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Jerusalema was certified three times platinum in Italy and diamond in France.

The original music video has achieved 491 million views on YouTube while the remix featuring Burna Boy has achieved 28 million views.

The Swiss Music Awards are regarded as Switzerland’s biggest music awards ceremony.  The first-ever awards kicked off in 2008 and have been awarding the country’s biggest musicians since.

The Jerusalema remix has been nominated for Best Hit International at the Swiss Music Awards. The track is up against The Weeknd’s smash hit, Save Your Tears and Wellerman by Scottish singer, Nathan Evans.

Master KG is the only African artist up for an award at the Swiss Music Awards this year.

‘DALI NGUWE’

The 26-year-old has kicked off 2022 on a high note, releasing two hot singles. Master KG teamed up with Makhadzi on Kulakwe in February.

His latest track, Ke Nosi featuring Prince Benza and Makhadzi was released on 18 March.
