Jerry Rice Threatens Reporters at Celebrity Golf Tournament in Lake Tahoe

Three-time Super Bowl champion Jerry Rice had a surprising confrontation with reporters during a celebrity golf tournament in Lake Tahoe.

The 61-year-old NFL legend was attending the practice round of the American Century Championship, mingling with other high-profile athletes like Jason and Travis Kelce, Blake Griffin, and Aaron Rodgers.

The incident began when two Kansas City-based reporters approached Rice with questions about the Chiefs’ 2024 wide receiving options.

The reporters were curious if Patrick Mahomes’ receivers were strong enough to secure another Super Bowl victory.

Rice initially brushed off the duo after a brief interaction, but things quickly escalated.

Viral footage from TMZ captured Rice charging back at the reporters, getting right in their faces, and shouting, “I will f*** you up!” He didn’t stop there, warning them, “If you want some, come get some!” before finally walking away from the altercation.

Reporters’ Reaction

The two baffled reporters shared their shock with other attendees at the charity event, calling it “the craziest thing that’s ever happened in my life.”

According to TMZ, Rice felt provoked by their questions, interpreting them as a slight against his former team, the San Francisco 49ers.

He believed the reporters were trying to rile him up, especially considering the 49ers’ close loss to the Chiefs in Super Bowl LVIII.

Rice, a Pro Football Hall of Famer and two-time NFL Offensive Player of the Year, made it clear that he was defending his legacy with the 49ers.

“I’m going to defend the San Francisco 49ers,” he stated. “This is my history.”

His passionate defense underscores the pride and loyalty he holds for the team he played with for 16 seasons.

Despite the heated encounter, Rice continued to compete in the tournament, finishing tied for 22nd place alongside Lakers star Austin Reaves.

Family Ties in the NFL

Jerry Rice’s legacy in the NFL continues through his sons.

In April, his son Brenden was drafted by the LA Chargers in the 7th round of the 2024 NFL Draft.

His oldest son, Jerry Rice Jr., also had a brief stint in the NFL, signing with the Washington Commanders in 2014 before an injury ended his career.

This incident at the golf tournament is a reminder of the intense passion and competitive spirit that defined Jerry Rice’s illustrious career in the NFL.
