After the game, Ten Hag said that Sancho’s absence from the United team for Sunday’s heartbreaking loss at Arsenal was due to disciplinary reasons.
According to his training performances, “Jadon, we did not select him,” Ten Hag told the media.
“At Manchester United, you have to perform at a certain level every day, and we can choose who plays in the front line.
He was therefore not chosen for this game.
Sancho, however, has vehemently refuted the notion that his level of effort during training was cause for concern, stating that his manager’s accusations are “completely untrue,” and that he has been used as a “scapegoat for a long time.”
Please don’t believe everything you read, he pleaded in a tweet.
I won’t stand for people expressing things that are wholly false.
I’ve behaved myself admirably this week during training.
I’ve been made the scapegoat for a very long period, which is unfair, but I think there are other factors that I won’t discuss.
All I want to do is cheer for my team and play football with a grin on my face.
I play alongside wonderful players and am grateful to be able to do so, even if I am aware that it presents challenges each and every week.
I respect all decisions made by the coaching staff.
I won’t give up until I get this badge, no matter what.
At the Emirates, Antony got the start, and Alejandro Garnacho came off the bench for the second half.
Sancho has came off the bench in all three of United’s games so far this season; he has yet to make a start.
