Tori Towey, a 28-year-old Irishwoman, found herself in a nightmarish situation after claiming she was attacked by her South African husband in their Dubai home.

Charged with alcohol abuse and attempted suicide on June 28, her passport was confiscated, trapping her in Dubai and raising fears of imprisonment.
