The Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, recently expressed his admiration and appreciation for the outstanding contributions of four distinguished Nigerians.
In his goodwill message during the unveiling of the Hallmarks of Labour Book, Volume II at the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, he lauded their remarkable leadership, integrity, and dedication to both their professions and the progress of the state and nation.
Praising Remarkable Individuals
Governor Sanwo-Olu specifically commended the lives and journeys of Professor Ibrahim Agbola Gambari, Professor Bolaji Akinyemi, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu, and Professor Joseph Ogbonnaya Irukwu.
He viewed their experiences as a source of inspiration, especially for the younger generation, highlighting the importance of honest labor in achieving greatness.
The Governor, represented by the Secretary to the State Government, ‘Bimbola Salu-Hundeyin, expressed pride on behalf of the people and Government of Lagos State for the awardees’ significant achievements in their patriotic endeavors to foster a better Nigeria.
Acknowledging Dedication and Vision
Governor Sanwo-Olu also extended his appreciation to the Author of the Book, Mrs. Patricia Otuedon-Arawore, and the Board of Trustees for their unwavering commitment to the ideals of the Hallmarks of Labour Foundation over the past three decades.
He noted that their vision aligns with Lagos State Government’s THEMES+ Development Agenda, particularly focusing on community advancement, youth development, gender equality, and an all-inclusive government.
He reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to supporting the nurturing of a society where citizens, especially the youth, can draw inspiration from contemporary role models.
Recognition from Prominent Figures
The event, chaired by Izoma Philip Aziodu, drew the attendance and recognition of several notable figures, including Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun; Borno State Governor, Prof. Babagana Zulum; Nasarawa State Governor, Engr. Abdullahi Sule; and the Deputy Governor of Oyo State, Barr. Abdulraeem Lawal.
These leaders acknowledged the significant contributions of the four awardees to the development of Nigeria and Africa as a whole.
A Noteworthy Book
The book itself was reviewed by the Vice Chancellor of Lagos State University, Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, who highlighted its accessibility and engaging style, making it an interesting read for all.
The event was graced by the presence of dignitaries, including former Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Princess Adebisi Sarah Sosan; former Secretary-General of the Commonwealth, Chief Emeka Anyaoku; Chief Onikepo Akande; and Prof. Oladapo Ashiru, among other prominent personalities.
