…By Larry John for TDPel Media. Simon Lalong, the Governor of Plateau State, has arrived in court to represent President-elect Bola Tinubu.
However, the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal has stated that Lalong cannot represent the former governor of Lagos State but can represent the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The tribunal commenced the pre-hearing stage for the petitions challenging the February 25 presidential election results in Abuja on Monday.
The platform had earlier reported that the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, and flagbearer of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, are challenging Tinubu’s victory.
Recall that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Tinubu of the APC as the winner with 8,794,726 votes.
However, Obi and Atiku, in different petitions, charged the court to declare them as the winner of the presidential election.
The presence of Governor Lalong and the LP presidential candidate in court highlights the importance of the presidential election petition and the issues that it raises.
It is a reminder that the election remains a subject of contention and legal dispute, with many Nigerians closely following the proceedings.
The outcome of the petition will have significant implications for the country’s political landscape and the future of democracy in Nigeria.
