Kano state governor, Dr Umar Abdullahi Ganduje, has appealed to the Senator Ibrahim Shekarau-led faction of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano to unite with his faction for the party’s prosperity in the state.
Governor Ganduje’s led faction of the APC defeated the Shekarau’s faction at the Appeal Court over control of the leadership structure of APC.
While stating that the lower High Court lacks jurisdiction to recognise Shekarau’s faction, the Appeal Court added that the case was not a pre-election matter but an internal matter that the APC leadership should decide.
Governor Ganduje, who reacted to the judgement in a press briefing at the APC National Secretariat, told the defeated faction to give peace a chance.
“I am appealing to them (Shekarau’s faction) because we are members of one family, the APC.
So I’m appealing to them to come as Kano state is almost one hundred per cent APC, we will come together and forge ahead in such a manner.
”
The governor confirmed that the APC national secretariat had given his state chairman Hon.
Abdullahi Abbas a certificate of return.
“First, we have to thank God for this significant victory at the moment.
As he rightly said, the APC of Kano state judged that all the elections we conducted from the wards to the state level are legally recognised.
“I want to thank the party and the leadership for initiating the peace movement to ensure that our party is united; I have to thank the party for that.
The judgement is in our favour and APC stakeholders in Kano are here to show our appreciation to the party’s leadership.
“We have the house leader, senator, other representatives, representatives of the 44 local government chairmen, state assembly members, elected councillors from Kano state and to you the members of the press for covering all the court proceedings,” he said.
Senator Kabiru Gaya, Majority Leader House of Representatives, Hon Ado Doguwa, among other party chieftains from Kano state, accompanied Governor Ganduje.
