In the latest transfer buzz, Fulham has stepped up their efforts to sign Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay.
They’ve put forward a £23 million offer, hoping to bring the Scottish international to Craven Cottage.
This move comes after Manchester United previously turned down a £30 million bid from West Ham last summer.
With McTominay’s contract nearing its end, United is reportedly open to offers in the £25-30 million range, despite having an option to extend his contract by another year.
Alongside Fulham, Turkish giants Galatasaray and Fenerbahce have also shown interest in the 27-year-old, who recently played in United’s 3-2 victory over Real Betis in San Diego.
Manchester United is actively looking to offload either McTominay or Casemiro to make room for a new defensive midfielder. Their target? Paris Saint-Germain’s Manuel Ugarte.
The club’s interest in Ugarte signals a potential reshuffling of their midfield, as they aim to bolster their squad for the upcoming season.
Mason Mount is gearing up for what he hopes will be a revitalized season at Manchester United.
The 25-year-old midfielder joined United last year from Chelsea in a £60 million transfer but had a challenging debut season, managing only 20 appearances and eight starts due to a calf injury. Now fully recovered, Mount is eager to make a strong impression and contribute significantly to the team.
Speaking from United’s base in Los Angeles, he expressed his excitement about the new season, stating, “I definitely feel this is a fresh start.
I’m in a really good position at the moment, and I can’t wait to get on that pitch.”
Mount is setting high goals for both himself and the team, emphasizing the importance of winning trophies and maintaining high standards. “We definitely have a group that can win trophies,” he said, underlining the club’s ambition and the unity within the squad.
United’s Hierarchy Visits LA Chargers
In an interesting crossover of sports and cultures, Manchester United’s leadership and coaching staff recently visited the LA Chargers’ training facility in Los Angeles.
The delegation, including new chief executive Omar Berrada and sporting director Dan Ashworth, toured the state-of-the-art complex known as The Bolt. United’s manager Erik ten Hag, along with his new coaching team, including Ruud van Nistelrooy and Rene Hake, were also present.
The visit was part of United’s efforts to gather insights as they plan a significant upgrade of their Carrington training ground, estimated to cost around £50 million.
Padres Event and Snapdragon Partnership
United’s tour of the United States also included a promotional event with the San Diego Padres baseball team. However, the Padres, busy with a game against the LA Dodgers, were less enthusiastic about promoting United’s match against Real Betis.
This led to a smaller crowd at the Snapdragon Stadium, with only 26,248 fans in attendance, compared to the stadium’s capacity of 35,000.
Despite the lower turnout, United’s new shirt sponsor, Snapdragon, seemed pleased with the engagement, as they embark on a lucrative three-year deal with the club.
The Costly Future of Old Trafford
Manchester United is contemplating a major redevelopment of Old Trafford, with costs potentially exceeding £2 billion. This project could see United paying double the amount Tottenham spent on their new stadium, even when accounting for inflation.
The rising costs of construction materials are a significant factor, and United aims to complete the new stadium by 2030 if financially viable.
The club’s ambition is to create a world-class facility, keeping in line with the upgrades seen at other top European clubs like Real Madrid and Barcelona.
