…By Lola Smith for TDPel Media. Former Governor of Plateau State, Jonah Jang, has made strong accusations against his successor, Governor Simon Lalong, stating that he mismanaged the affairs of the state over the past eight years.
In a statement released on Monday by his spokesman, Clinton Garuba, Jang further alleged that the Lalong administration failed to protect the people of the state and derailed its development.
Jang expressed his concern regarding the current state of affairs and urged the governor-elect, Caleb Mutfwang, to focus on rebuilding the people’s trust in the government.
He emphasized the need for Mutfwang to put in every effort to rebuild the state and rectify the issues that have arisen.
According to the statement, Jang criticized the Lalong administration for prioritizing the hasty inauguration of projects, some of which were initiated during Jang’s own administration.
He viewed this as an attempt to compensate for eight years of what he described as a lack of progress.
Jang suggested that the government only realized too late that it had pursued personal political gains at the expense of the overall well-being of the state.
Jang pointed out that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) performed poorly in Plateau State during the general elections, which he believed was a testament to the failure of Lalong’s administration.
He stated that if the administration had performed better, the people of Plateau State would have expressed their satisfaction through the ballot box.
Consequently, Jang suggested that Lalong should quietly step aside and redirect his efforts towards seeking a federal-level appointment, as he had allegedly neglected the state during his years in office.
These allegations and criticisms from Jang shed light on the discontent surrounding Lalong’s administration and highlight the urgency for the incoming governor to address the concerns and challenges facing Plateau State.
