…By Jack Sylva for TDPel Media. Former Kano State Governor, Ibrahim Shekarau, has provided insights into his relationship with Rabiu Kwankwaso, the presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).
It should be noted that Shekarau had a falling out with Kwankwaso last August.
He had initially joined Kwankwaso’s NNPP after leaving the All Progressives Congress (APC) in May.
However, he quickly left the NNPP and joined the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the same month.
During an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Shekarau acknowledged that he maintains a cordial relationship with Kwankwaso.
He acknowledged that although they sometimes have disagreements on certain political matters, they are still the best of friends.
Shekarau clarified, “We are very good friends.
When he is here talking, you think we normally disagree.
We disagree on a number of political issues.
But that does not mean we are fighting, (or) we are enemies.
We are best of friends.”
No Possibility of Switching Parties
Shekarau also dismissed any possibility of leaving the PDP to join the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
He affirmed his commitment to the PDP and expressed no intention to switch political parties.
Support for Fuel Subsidy Removal
Furthermore, Shekarau shared his perspective on the government’s plan to remove fuel subsidy on petroleum products.
He expressed his support for the immediate removal of fuel subsidy and indicated that he does not oppose this move.
By shedding light on his relationship with Kwankwaso and clarifying his stance on fuel subsidy removal, Shekarau provides insights into his political dynamics and positions within the Nigerian political landscape.
