Nigerian Student’s Burial Plans Unveiled
The family of the late Nigerian student, Remilekun Meshioye, who tragically fell ill during a flight on Egypt Air and was declared dead in a Cairo hospital, has revealed their plans for her burial.
This announcement comes about a month after her unfortunate demise.
Repatriation of the Deceased
According to Abdur-Rahman Balogun, the spokesperson of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), Remilekun Meshioye’s remains will be brought back to Lagos from Cairo.
The scheduled arrival date is set for Wednesday, October 18th.
Service of Songs and Burial Details
Following the repatriation, there will be a service of songs in her honor at the Winners Chapel in Ogba, Lagos, on Thursday, October 19th, at 4 p.m.
Subsequently, the burial will take place at Matori Cemetery Ladipo, near Oshodi Bus Terminus in Lagos, at 10 a.m. on Friday, October 20th.
Seeking Accountability from Egypt Air
Lola Olaniyi-Alabi, the deceased’s sister, expressed the family’s decision to repatriate Remilekun Meshioye’s body back to Nigeria for burial.
This decision stems from Egypt Air’s management’s refusal to accept full responsibility for the incident that occurred during the flight.
Unanswered Appeals
The family has made several appeals to Egypt Air and its management, seeking accountability and support in this challenging time.
Regrettably, the airline has not responded to their petitions or provided any condolences.
NIDCOM has also reached out to Egypt Air in an attempt to seek clarification on the matter, but the airline has remained unresponsive, failing to take the necessary actions for the bereaved family.
