…By Lola Smith for TDPel Media. Governor Dr Peter Mbah of Enugu State has given his approval for the appointment of Professor Chidiebere Onyia as the new Secretary to the State Government (SSG).
This announcement was made through a statement released by the Governor’s media office on Monday.
Prior to this appointment, Prof. Onyia held the position of Managing Director at the United Kingdom Nigeria Infrastructure Facility.
He also served as the Lead Strategy Advisor for the Federal Government of Nigeria, World Bank Group Power Sector Recovery Programme, and contributed his expertise to various international organizations and countries, including the United Nations, Germany, and Russia.
Prof. Onyia holds the position of a visiting Professor of Education at Godfrey Okoye University in Enugu and has served as a visiting Professor at the University of Nigeria Nsukka.
He is also a member of the Governing Council of two private Nigerian universities.
With a Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences, a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction, a Master of Business Administration degree, and a Doctorate degree in Educational Leadership, his educational background is extensive.
He further pursued post-doctoral scholarship in Education Policy from the Ivy League Peabody College, Vanderbilt University.
With over 25 years of experience in leadership, innovation, strategy, institutional reforms, and research, Prof. Onyia has received numerous national and international awards and recognition for his outstanding contributions to the education sector
He is a published author and certified educational consultant, researcher, presenter, and mentor.
Prof. Onyia had previously served as a member of the Transition Committee, which developed an actionable plan for the Peter Mbah administration based on his manifesto and social contract with the people of Enugu State.
Governor Otti Calls for Emergency Meeting of Permanent Secretaries in Abia State
Governor Alex Chioma Otti of Abia State has summoned all Permanent Secretaries in the state civil service to a crucial meeting scheduled for today, Tuesday.
The meeting, to be held at Michael Okpara Auditorium in Umuahia, was announced through a statement from the Governor’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ferdinand Ekeoma.
The specific agenda for the meeting was not disclosed, but it is believed to be related to the Governor’s plans to reform the state’s civil service, as outlined in his inaugural broadcast.
Additionally, discussions regarding the issue of salary arrears of civil servants, which led to a three-week strike, may also be addressed during the meeting.
