Editor of Vanguard Newspaper Elected as President of Nigerian Guild of Editors

…By Dorcas Funmi for TDPel Media. Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has responded to the emergence of Mr Eze Anaba, the Editor (Daily) of Vanguard Newspapers, as the new President of the Nigerian Guild of Editors (NGE).

Successful Election at NGE National Biennial Convention

During the National Biennial Convention of the Guild held in Imo State, Anaba and other executive members of the NGE were elected.

Anaba secured 250 votes, defeating his sole opponent, Bolaji Adebiyi, who garnered 81 votes.

The newly elected executives will lead the NGE for the next two years.

Governor’s Congratulatory Message

Governor Oyebanji conveyed his congratulations to Anaba on his new role as President of the NGE.

He expressed confidence that Anaba’s appointment would provide an opportunity to build on the achievements of previous leaders who had worked tirelessly to elevate the Guild’s status.

The governor’s statement, issued by his Special Adviser on Media, Yinka Oyebode, also extended congratulations to the Guild for a peaceful election.

Describing Anaba as a seasoned professional with extensive experience and connections, Governor Oyebanji urged him to utilize his wealth of expertise to strengthen the Guild and propel it to greater heights.

The governor also extended his congratulations to other executives who were elected during the convention, emphasizing that their leadership positions held the potential to make history for themselves and contribute to the growth of the media industry in Nigeria.

Governor Oyebanji emphasized that as a pillar of democracy, the new leadership of the NGE should collaborate with other media bodies in Nigeria to ensure adherence to the code of ethics within the profession.

The governor further urged the new NGE President and his team to use the Guild as a platform to unite editorial leaders in the media profession.
