Terrence Crosbie, a 37-year-old married father-of-two and member of the Dublin Fire Brigade, is facing accusations of raping a 28-year-old woman while she was asleep in Boston during St. Patrick’s Day celebrations.
Crosbie traveled to Massachusetts on Thursday with fellow firefighters and was apprehended on Saturday, purportedly attempting to flee the country after a police interrogation linked him to the assault.
According to court documents, the alleged victim recounted meeting one of Crosbie’s acquaintances at The Black Rose restaurant and later returning to the Omni Parker House hotel room, where Crosbie was staying with his friend.
While the woman engaged in consensual relations with Crosbie’s friend, Crosbie was initially absent.
However, surveillance footage purportedly captured Crosbie entering the hotel room approximately two hours later, after which he allegedly proceeded to sexually assault the woman despite her protests.
The victim reported the incident to the authorities at Massachusetts General Hospital the following day, leading to Crosbie’s arrest.
Charged with rape, Crosbie is being held on $100,000 bail and has been barred from leaving Massachusetts pending trial. Additionally, his passport has been confiscated to prevent any attempt to flee the state or the country.
Public records, including Crosbie’s social media profiles, depict him as a devoted husband and active member of the Dublin community.
However, his recent actions have cast a shadow over his reputation, prompting an internal investigation by the Dublin Fire Brigade. Crosbie’s decision to leave the United States earlier than planned, following his police interview, has raised suspicions about his intentions and accountability.
Acknowledging the victim’s bravery in coming forward, Suffolk District Attorney Kevin Hayden emphasized the importance of holding Crosbie accountable for his alleged actions.
Meanwhile, the Dublin Fire Brigade has placed Crosbie on leave pending further investigation into the matter, reiterating their commitment to upholding high standards of conduct among their personnel.
As legal proceedings unfold, Crosbie is slated to appear in court on April 16. The case has drawn significant attention, underscoring the urgency of addressing allegations of sexual assault and ensuring justice for the victims involved.
